Fundamentals in Product Rendering
This course covers advanced techniques in lighting, materials and rendering used to produce professional product renders. Designed for students with intermediate to advanced knowledge of 3D rendering, students will walk away from the course with a product visualization portfolio designed to boost any job application or online portfolio.
Emphasizing the link between product rendering and photography, the course will focus on transferring century-old photographic techniques into the world of 3D, teaching students the industry standards for setting up and lighting various materials and scenarios. Students will be taught by an industry professional using a combination of lectures, critiques and hands-on learning.
This course is specifically designed for students who have familiarity with a 3D modeling software and rendering but are looking for those guarded tips and tricks that produce photo-realistic product renders. Students will exit the course with a representative portfolio, showcasing their learned skills in product visualization.
NOTE: This is an advanced lighting, materials and rendering course and NOT a 3D modeling course. For students interested in learning advanced techniques in 3D modeling please check out our Advanced Architectural Rendering course.

Week 1
Each day of the course will cover a different category of product rendering beginning first with the fundamentals of photographic lighting in V-Ray. The course will go on to cover a variety of real world product examples including lighting and rendering metal, glass, fabric and other difficult materials.
The course is structured with a lecture in the morning, a follow-along exercise in the afternoon and an independent exercise at the end of the day. On the final day of the course students will work with the instructor to create their own product shot using pre-existing and custom built assets.
